Couples may be vulnerable to depression if they are experiencing conflicts and crises in marital relationships and between parents and children. In this situation, the Christian's the image of God can affect and be affected at the same time in their lives. This study was conducted to confirm how child-rearing stress and marital conflict resolution strategies affect the depression of parents raising underage children through God’s image. To this end, data were collected from 212 parents raising underage children, and the data were analyzed through descriptive statistics analysis and structural model verification. The main research results are as follows. First, it was confirmed that child-rearing stress had a direct negative effect on depression. Second, it was confirmed that the marital conflict resolution strategy had a direct and positive effect on depression. Third, it was confirmed that God’s image had a direct and positive effect on depression. Fourth, it was found that child-rearing stress indirectly negatively affects depression through God’s image. Fifth, it was found that the rational marital conflict resolution strategy indirectly had a positive effect on depression through God’s image. Based on this, this study proposed the need to provide Christian counseling and receptive care of the church community to help clients experiencing depression to form and restore biblical God’s image.

The purpose of this study is to consider a counselee who experiences codependence as an adult child in dysfunctional families from the Christian perspective, focusing on counseling relationships. This study is meaningful in exploring how the counselee in codependence could experience actual counseling relationships and making suggestion on how Christian counseling could help the counselee. The research problems for this study are to examine what the counselee’s experience of codependence is like in real life, to explore how the experience of counselee appears in the counseling relationship, and to discuss what the core healing factors and therapeutic meanings in counseling relationships are through the case analysis. from a biblical point of view. A single case study was performed qualitatively using the research method of biblical meaning of ‘mind’ and the biblical approach of cognitive therapy change model presented by Jun Kim (2008). According to the result, the codepenency experience of the adult child was revealed in actual counseling relationships as aspects of communication difficulty, identity problem, and lack of intimacy. The counseling intervention strategies were the quest stage of incarnation empathy and communication, the insight stage of identifying myself as the God’s beloved child, and the practice stage of trusting that who I am is the perfect grace of God. This study suggested additional studies with multiple cases in future.

This article is to clarify that a multifaceted understanding of religious addiction and a Christian counseling through application of cognitive behavioral therapy strategies. The researchers understood religious addiction from the view point of Christian counseling. This study was to examine the various problems and harms of religious addiction. In this research, the development process of religious addiction was divided into early, middle, and late stages. Religious addiction destroyed personal life and relationships and causes social problems such as oppression and violence through religion. Religious addiction also was not a true religious life, but a religious act that relieves stress and obtains self-satisfaction under the guise of faith. A total of five stages of Christian counseling approach were considered as an approach to the healing of religious addiction. The five steps consisted of searching from the first step of prayer, repenting and forgiveness, recording false beliefs, challenging the false beliefs, and cognitive reframing. Religious addiction was a spiritual disease, so the revelation of God through prayer, which is a spiritual approach, and awareness and insight from this are of utmost importance. We looked at counseling methods that record and challenge false beliefs as a process of reconstructing the client’s cognitive framework for more stable and continuous treatment.
