ABSTRACT

The purposes of this study analyze the status of support systems that were offered from universities for students with disabilities since the policy on exceptional admissions were implemented and to provide practical guidelines for setting up programs for students with disabilities in terms of their education and school living during their college years. With these purposes, focus group interviews were implemented with related specialists and students with disabilities who currently attend universities. The status of school support systems were analyzed and the special needs and points that were commented by students as problems were collected. Furthermore, two outstanding universities in the United States in terms of providing support for students with disabilities were benchmarked. Their programs and support systems were analyzed. Based on overall outcomes, guidelines on support programs regarding four areas : support systems, admission, teaching -learning and school living were provided. The outcomes and guidelines may be applied both national and school level.
