AB - This literature review found out the effects of video modeling for generalization of people with autistic tendencies.
First, video modeling is thought to help compensate for stimulus over-selectivity often displayed by children with autism.
Second, watching television is highly reinforced activity.
Third, watching videos for children with autism may be intrinsically and automatically reinforcing.
Fourth, television is engaging medium that does not require social interaction during learning.
Fifth, video modeling can present various behaviors in realistic context
In order to review in detail, video modeling is engaged to help compensate for generalization of language, play, and perspective taking skills. Usually, repeated video watching of target behaviors, video discrimination training, vivo instruction, video self modeling were utilized for the methods of video modeling for people with autistic tendencies.
Finally, this review pointed out that researchers and educators of people with autistic tendencies needs to concerns video self modeling as one of effective teaching methods for generalization of people with autistic tendencies.
