ABSTRACT

This study investigated the changes in skills and understandings for inclusion of a total of 104 pre-service teachers at secondary level and their perceptions on implementation competency and necessity for inclusion. In addition, based on the comparison of teachers’ perceptions on implementation competency and necessity for inclusion, this study found out the specific categories of teacher-competency which should be improved. The results of this study showed that the skills and understandings for inclusion of pre- service teachers were significantly improved. Also, mostly, their perceptions on implementation competency and necessity for inclusion were significantly improved. However, the teacher-competency level related to advanced knowledge and skills for inclusion were still relatively low. Based on these results, directions for plans and provisions of introduction to special education course were discussed.
