ABSTRACT

The purposes of this study were to examine the school adaptation of middleschool students with disabilities and the attitudes of middle school studentswithout disabilities in the scenes of inclusive education. Also its purpose wasto investigate relations between school adaptation of students with disabilitiesand attitudes of students without disabilities. To these ends, 287 middle schoolstudents without disabilities completed questionnaires, and the research findingswere as follows. First, the school adaptation of middle school students with disabilitieswas in the average level, and their relationships with friends and teacherswere low along with their participation in lessons. Second, the attitudes ofcommon students toward students with disabilities tended to be neutral withtheir behavioral and cognitive attitudes scoring low points. Finally, therewere positive correlations between the school adaptation of middle schoolstudents with disabilities and the attitudes of common students. There wereespecially close correlations between the school adaptation of middle schoolstudents with disabilities and the cognitive and behavioral attitudes of commonstudents. Based on these results, it will be possible to facilitate the schooladaptation of students with disabilities and achieve the given goal of inclusiveeducation by improving positive attitudes of non-disabled students.
