ABSTRACT

This study analyzed the classifications and characteristics of conjunctions in Korean Sign Language. Utilizing 12 pieces of news clips in KSL(Korean Sign Language) from Korean Broadcasting for the Deaf(iDBN), all video materials were 34 minutes 58 seconds. This totaled 144 sentences, where 125 conjunctions were found. KSL had 6 different types of conjunctions. Out of 17 conjunctions, 11 were done using a specific KSL sign and 6 were done using other features of KSL that do not involve a manual sign. Conjunctions in manual sign were used only in sentences while. Conjunctions in non-manual sign simultaneously used with a pronoun. Last, more research is recommended to find more conjunctions within the various video genres in KSL.
