ABSTRACT

This study aims to explore the direction of competency-oriented youth activities by examining the social perceptions of youth activities and competency through big data analysis. To this purpose, based on textom's big data, online data was collected using search words such as 'youth+activity', 'youth+competency', and 'youth+activity+competency'. The collected data were selected based on the frequency of the words after the first and second refining processes, and the selected core key-words were converted into matrix data to conduct social network analysis. First, the social perception of youth activities was dominated by volunteer activity. In addition, volunteer work and research were close factors affecting youth activities. Based on this, we could learn the importance of research related to volunteer activity as a youth activity. Second, the frequency analysis of youth competency was high in the order of youth, research, support, programs, competency and education. The ego network visualization suggests that education and programs have a significant impact on youth competency. Except for youth and competency keyword, which were search key-words, program-oriented competency education was recognized as an important keyword. Third, considering all youth, activities and capabilities, social preception was represented by four topics: competency development, program elements, youth research topics and activations. Based on these results, the study suggested implications and suggestions for competency-oriented youth activities.
