ABSTRACT

Acording to Burtler’s thesis, a resort or a tourist destinatio n folows a certain path of development stages, drawing S curve. With a the sis that the growth of tourist destination will end off at sometime in the f uture, this paper examines the each historical trend of visitors to Jeju island, Okinawa and Hawai (famous destinations of the world), and the authors set up plausible time path models to the growth of visitors in each, during the past years. With the findings, the parameter “C” of the case of Hawai is g reater than the others and Hawaii is estimated to be at the stage of stagnation a n d saturation at present. Okinawa and Jeju island are found simila r in the prospective tourist growth and development stage currently plac ed, but Jeju Island was found more advantageous in growth remaining strength t h a n Okinawa. On the other hand, Okinawa was found beter in positio n than Jeju Island in the length of whole life cycle.
