ABSTRACT

This study examines directions for designing a Korean language curriculum for international students enrolled in junior colleges. It analyzes the institutional characteristics of junior colleges, the current operation of Korean language courses, and students’ language performance needs. The findings indicate that most courses are centered on general communication skills, while support directly related to major-related academic performance is limited. However, the needs analysis reveals a demand for language support in understanding major lectures and completing academic tasks. Based on these findings, this study proposes a staged curriculum framework that includes academic adjustment, major-related performance support, and professional and social adaptation.
