This study tries to analyze excellent strategies of Admiral Yi, Sun-sin being showed in the Hansan Naval Battle, where Yi showed his perfect strategies and tactics. To do this, I, first of all, I illuminate making-process of his brilliant thoughts as naval strategies.
Compared with those who were of same his age, Yi Sun-sin surely tried to study far harder than any others since his childhood. In addition, since his youth, he had read through all the books related to naval warfare and war strategies which made him the person fit as a naval strategy expert. It is true that his capability and insights being centered on strategy had been forming with helps from his father-in-law, Bang Jin and the supporter Yu, Seong-yong. While serving the military, plus, he had been developing his abilities as a strategy expert of the navy by studying and experiencing for fourteen years, until the time right before Japanese invading the Joseon Dynasty in 1592.
Admiral Yi Sun-sin showed his ability as a commander of Joseon Navy in 1592. Above all, he loved his people and wanted to protect them as much as he could. He always thought that the war was overcome with the helps from Joseon people. Not to mention of it, he was well equipped with the importance of battle in sea. Nobody thought it without him.
It was in the Hansan Great Victory that he showed his great talents for naval strategies. The Hansan Great Victory was the momentous sea battle between Joseon' Naval Forces and Japanese' picked naval troops. Yi Sun-sin showed multiple strategies in the battle. For example, his fleets used war-tactics with configurations of either sea or lands, battle ship array with situation, preemptive attacks with the Turtle-shaped Ship and attacks with fires. All these tactics led to great victory. The most important factor of Hansan Great Victory was Yi Sun-sin's unique strategies showed in the navy battles.
