Objectives : The aim of this study was to examine the level of oral health knowledge,oral health importance, oral health status and oral health interest of the social workers engaged in child care facilities to analyze the influential factors on oral health promotion activities and provide the basic data for oral health promotion activities. Methods : The subjects in this study were those social workers engaged in child care facilities from May 15th to May 25th in 2011. The self-report questionnaires were distributed and withdrawn and then a total of 205 papers from the subjects that participated in this study were analyzed for the final analysis. Results : 1. Oral health knowledge had 12.16±1.66 in a full score of 15 and oral health importance,oral health status and oral health interest were 1.12±0.36, 2.80±0.50 and 2.14±0.8 respectively in a full score of 5. 2. According to the general characteristics, the difference analysis of cognition-recognition factors showed that singles had significantly higher oral health knowledge married couples (p<0.05) and the social workers unusing auxiliary oral hygiene devices had significantly higher oral health interest than those using them(p<0.01). 3. The mean of oral health promotion was 3.28±0.51, characteristics of detailed specific-area were as follows ; the toothbrushing was 3.77±0.57, the use of fluoride was 2.67±0.98, periodic dental screening and treatment were 2.98±1.09 and eating habits was 4.14±0.57. These results generally showed tooth-brushing and eating habits show a little higher figures. 4. Considering the factors oral health promotion behaviors of social workers engaged in child care facilities, the higher oral health interest was, the higher oral health promotion behavior was. Conclusions : It seems that social workers engaged in child care facilities are required to pay attention to the importance of oral health and learn oral health knowledge, which will lead to much better improvement of oral health for children brought up by them.

Objectives : The purpose of this study was to examine the factors related to the dental caries and periodontal diseases of Korean elderly people in terms of demographic characteristics, oral health promotion behavior and systemic diseases in an effort to provide information on national policy setting and policy evaluation about the prevention of tooth loss resulting from severe oral diseases and the promotion of elderly people's oral health. Methods : The first-, second- and third-year raw data of the 4th National Health and Nutrition Survey were utilized, and the data of 3,882 elderly people who got a dental checkup were analyzed. The statistical package SPSS WIN 19.0 was employed to make a logistic regression analysis. Results : The senior citizens who did toothbrushing less frequently were more likely to have dental caries. As for periodontal diseases, the men were 1.34-fold more likely to have periodontal diseases than the women, and the respondents whose self-rated health state was worse were 1.40-fold more likely to have periodontal diseases than the others whose self-rated health state was better. The senior citizens who ever received treatment from unqualified people were 1.30-fold more likely to have peridontal diseases, and those who took neither vitamin compound nor minerals were 1.30-fold more likely to have periodontal diseases. Those who suffered from low High-density Lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL)were 1.35-fold more likely to have periodontal diseases than the others who didn't. Conclusions : Those whose self-rated health status is worse should especially be concerned about periodontal diseases. Specifically, it's needed to pay attention to the low-income classes, and the government should take measures to provide quality welfare services for elderly people not to receive treatment from unqualified people. Besides, research efforts should be made to determine the relationship between periodontal diseases and low HDL- cholesterolemia.

The influence on infant oral health care from mother's experience of oral health education

Objectives : This study is for suggesting the data base for help mother and child improve the oral health enhancement action from understanding child s oral health enhancement action from mother s oral health education experience and researching the effects of mother s oral health enhancement action on child s oral health enhancement action. Methods : The subject was 220 children and mothers of some kindergarten in Jeollabuk-do, Korea out of convenience sampling. The results were collected by carrying out a survey out of self record method from visiting the kindergarten from June 24th to July 12th. and were analyzed. Results : 1. The mother s and child s oral health enhancement action was satisfactory in the factor of toothbrushing , oral hygiene care item and periodic visits in case the subjects have experienced oral health education, and that data was meaningful statistically. 2. In the oral health enhancement action practiced by mother to child from existence or absence of the mother s oral health education experience, the data was meaningful statistically in the factor of‘directly brushing its teeth more than once a day ,‘washing its tongue and coaching that child could keep the toothbrush not to overlap with other toothbrushes . 3. In the factor that affect to oral health enhancement action practiced by mother to child,toothbrushing and oral hygiene care item were high level of the mother s oral health enhancement action, and that data was meaningful statistically. Conclusions : The children s oral health condition could be influenced by mother s oral health knowledges and attention. Accordingly, oral health education for the mother and child has to be enforced systematically suited for the characteristic change of oral condition with children age groups. Also, utilizing human resources who have expertise and development of the oral health education program are needed.

Objectives : TThe purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between the oral health education experience of workers and their oral health awareness in an attempt to provide some information on corporate oral health education plans. Methods : The, subjects in this study were 230 workers in Busan and South Gyeongsang Province, on whom a self-administered survey was conducted from August, 2010, to June 18, 2011. A frequency analysis was carried out to grasp the general characteristics of the 205 respondents, and x2-test(p). Results : 1. As for the relationship of the oral health education experience of the workers and their awareness of toothbrush involving optimum toothbrush size, 47.4 percent of those without educational experience thought that a toothbrush should be large enough to cover about two teeth(p<.018). 2. Regarding the relationship between the oral health education experience of the workers and their awareness of fluoride, 59.1 percent of the respondents with educational experience perceived that dentifrice contained fluoride(p<.05). 3. Concerning the relationship between the oral health education experience of the workers and their awareness of periodontal diseases including the cause of the diseases,43.6 percent of the respondents with educational experience(p<.021). 4. As to the relationship between the oral health education experience of the workers and their awareness of scaling, 50.2 percent of the respondents with educational experience and gingival diseases(p<.037). 5. In terms of the relationship between the oral health education experience of the workers and their awareness of toothbrushing involving toothbrushing frequency, 36.8 percent of those without it considered it necessary to do toothbrushing three times a day(p<.045). Conclusions : The above-mentioned findings illustrated that there were differences among the workers in oral health awareness according to their oral health education experience. Therefore the development of systematic oral health education programs is required to promote the oral health of workers.
