ABSTRACT

This study sought to determine whether special education courses improve pre-service physical education teachers’self-efficacy(SE) toward inclusive physical education. 273 students (M= 197, F= 76) enrolled in physical education teacher education programs in Korea participated in a specially developed survey and multilevel modeling was used to analyze the data. The results revealed that special education courses do indeed have a significant effect on self-efficacy towards teaching students with disabilities in general physical education classes. The study participants reported that they needed to take more than 16 special education courses credits to significantly improve their level of self-efficacy.
