ABSTRACT

The Study of Errors in Korean-Japanese Translation for the Online Travel Information Guides(This research is mainly focused on the online guides to the old palaces in Korea.)Chung,Il-Young(Kyung Hee University)Among three media providing tourists with travel information (printed materials, internet web sites and signboards), it is probably the internet web sites that people approach first and most to gather travel information before they actually hit the road. According to the annual survey(2001, 2002) released by KNTO(Korean National Tourism Organization - http://www.knto.or.kr), the number of Japanese visitors who obtain travel information through the Internet has been increasing from 16.8% (2001) up to 25.2%(2002).I carried out a research(2002) on two main web sites offering travel information, "Tour2korea"(KNTO), and "Visitseoul",(Seoul metropolitan government) and subsequently, discovered that both online guides bear no less translational problems than the leaflets which previously appeared to have problems.
