ABSTRACT

This study presents the results of usability tests of a platform prototype designed as a Learning Management System for translation training courses. The ultimate goal of this research is to enhance the efficiency of translation training by providing an educational platform that allows the users to conduct tasks including handing out assignments and providing or reviewing feedback on the platform. Feedback can be provided by drop-down or manual typing, which is automatically quantified in real time and presented in a pie chart. The platform had been tried out by instructors and students of translation major at a graduate school. While the visualized analysis of feedback was highly recognized, improvement on functions such as text spacing and save was suggested by the users. To address the said problems, an upgraded platform is presented in the study. The results of the usability test show that the platform helps both students and instructors understand students’ translation tendencies. Further research should be conducted to assess its overall functions through usability tests on the improved platform.
