ABSTRACT

Currently, not only the interpreting and translation industry but the relevant educational institutions are facing challenges posed by fundamental changes from the 4th Industrial Revolution and Covid-19 pandemic. Against this backdrop, this study aims to explore the trends of research on interpreting and translation education in Korea and China for the past 15 years to identify key research focuses to the main focus of follow-up research to better cope with the shift in education trends in the future. To achieve the goal, studies on interpreting and translation education published between 2008 and 2022 in the two country’s major academic journals were categorized by topic to examine the general research trends. Then, titles in the most frequently addressed research areas were analyzed to elicit major keywords. Based on the analysis, research trends in Korea and China were compared to provide suggestions about future research focus.
