ABSTRACT

This study is to discover how the pre-service teachers at the department of computer education in Korea perceive for elementary school teachers role. The research classified the types through the Q-methodology in extract of the objective thought of participants and analysis of each type’s characteristic. It was extracted by many statements through interview with participants and review of the advanced study. Futhermore it produce 52 statements result as Q sample by analysis. The Q-sample was Q-sorted by P-sample of the 66 participants and was analyzed by QUANL program. As a result, the type to perception of pre-service teachers classified into three types. The type 1 is called ‘Teacher as personality centered devotee’. The type 2 is called ‘Teacher as reality centered worker. and The type 3 is called ’Teacher as ability centered expert’. Additional explanation, Type 1 indicates teachers must be educated based on personality and love, It considers teachers’ role as priests or doers in according to traditional teacher roles. Type 2 emphasizes on teacher’s happy life and proud as well as own reality. Type 3 put teacher weight on skillful teachers in teaching through instruction methods. It also looks at teachers as experts who need to various expertise such as art, music and physical education, computer, chinese character, english, and school management.
