AB - This study analyzes the “X－媛” Internet neologisms from the perspective of constructive syntax. “X－媛” can be regarded as a generalized construction, including the variable “X” and the fixed term “媛”. We find the following characteristics of “X-媛” neologisms.From the phonological point of view, “媛” in “X－媛” should be “yuán”. From the semantic point of view, words having derogatory sense are predominant in the “X－媛” corpus. And “媛” has been generalized from “a female title with a good image” to “a title for women who create a false and beautiful persona for the purpose of turning web traffic into cash.” In terms of structure, the largest number of neologisms of the “X-媛” are those in which “X” is a two-syllable word and nominative element, and “X-媛” with a formalized structure are in the majority. From the perspective of generation mechanism, “X－媛” is mainly generated through construction suppression. In other words, in the context of new media, “媛” derives its quasi-affix features, and its localization and adhesion structural characteristics apply structural repression to “X－媛” words; while the variable “X” finally completes the semantic suppression of the construction through event suppression and feature suppression, thus promoting the generation of “X－媛” neologisms.
