AB - The purpose of this study is to identify the part-time job and work-related conditions among youth labor rights issues and to find ways to improve them.
To reach this purpose, 1,940 copies of questionnaires were distributed to youths in K-city, Gyeonggi Province, and 1,591 copies were collected and processed. And conducted FGI by organizing a focus group of professors, field experts, experienced students and teenagers related to youth labor and human rights.
The results obtained from the survey and FGI are summarized as follows.
First, the consciousness of youth labor rights was quite high. This is because public relations for responding to problems related to minimum wage or part-time jobs have been properly made, so the conditions of legal and institutional responses related to the implementation of part-time jobs seem to be quite positive.
Second, youths were regarded as not violating personal treatment at the workplace and not receiving wages on time, and their rights were violated if they did not observe the law on working for youths.
Third, the education on youth labor rights was not properly received, and there was a lack of information on the institutions or organizations that can receive youth labor rights education in schools or local governments.
Based on the results, this study proposed the necessity of establishing a long-term plan to guarantee youth labor rights, resolving relations between employers and youth, and the expansion of educational opportunities related to youth labor rights, training of human rights education organizations, promotion of education for improving the human rights awareness of employers, and youth labor rights at the local level.
