ABSTRACT

Background: Korean government introduced the New Deal 2.0 to reform the society, in particular, relive the inequality issues in education for young people and increase of youth employment became a very important agenda n0ow a days. This kind of social reform is common across the co0untries during the pandemic. Covid 19 has bought the inequality issues into many areas, and influenced younger generation more heavily and negatively. Young people need more support than any time in order to have safe transition to the adult life. However, this research realised that Korean New Deal 2.0 does not include enough support for young people’s preparation for employment. The government only provide employment and economic fund, however younger generation should have opportunity to explore their potentiality and competences Therefore, this research tried to find a good example of support young people to prepare their employment in the UK. Purpose: Firstly, this study aims to analyse the New Deal Policy in the UK, and then suggest what can be included in the Korean New Deal 2.0 for the younger generation. Methodology: This study chose the qualitative research methods using document analysis. Findings: This study found that New Deal in the UK has the different programme according to the different needs of young people. Secondly, this research found that the New Deal Policy impact young people’s life and showed positive results for the New Deal programmes, Further, during the pandemic new version of New Deal programme called ‘Build Back Better’ was introduced and implemented. It means young people are key player for the national reform and sustainable development. Conclusions: Therefore, if Korean government want to support young people, they should have different levels of programme in order to meet their all different needs.
