ABSTRACT

Background & Purpose: The purpose of this study is to find out the direction of youth activities by identifying the needs of youth instructors for youth activities. Methodology/Approach: To this end, a survey was conducted on 88 youth instructors to discover the activity environment and activity policies of youth instructors, and FGI was conducted on seven youth instructors to discover the environment, conditions, and future core tasks. Findings/Conclusions: First, the older the youth instructors, the longer they worked, the more they were concerned about establishing strategies. Second, youth facilities are generally striving to find mid- to long-term strategies and concrete realization methods for conducting projects for youth, and thereby, making efforts to achieve a balanced growth of youth. Third, in the demands of youth activities perceived by youth instructors, youth instructors saw that the importance of activities is high in almost all areas. In particular, the demand for self-directed activities was the highest, and the need for new technology perspectives such as innovation and 4th industry was high, and the necessity was high in the experiential area of youth. Fourth, for the promotion of non-face-to-face activities in the era of Covid-19, youth instructors indicated that it is very important to construct a platform where requests for direct support of equipment and data constituting the program are gathered as an important support. Fifth, the youth instructor demanded that local governments establish a future vision for youth policy and that public officials in charge of youth policy should be aware of the policy. Sixth, in order to carry out activities related to youth facilities and schools, it was deemed necessary to construct a platform capable of practical school connection. Seventh, it was indicated that in order to revitalize activities in the non-face-to-face era due to Covid-19, a desire to find youths' health level should be conducted, and infrastructure should be established to support activities. Eighth, it was considered necessary to provide youth activities by investigating the activity conditions in consideration of the local situation. Implications: This study is meaningful in that it can be used as basic data to understand the youth instructor's demands for youth activities, and to grasp the youth instructor's activity conditions and increase the applicability in the field.
