Since the IFLA FRBR conceptual model, the transition to a data structure centered on entity-relationships has been underway. Reflecting this international trend, the draft of the 5th edition of the Korean Cataloging Rules (KCR5) were presented in May 2024. This study focused on the ‘relationship’ which provides additional information to users by connecting one entity with other entities. To this end, (1) the types of relationships between entities defined in the conceptual model and RDA cataloging rule were examined, (2) the actual cases of LC and PCC to record relationships in MARC21 based on RDA were analyzed, and finally (3) practical methods and challenges to be solved for applying them to KORMARC format were suggested. This study mainly utilized RDA training materials and data input guidelines of LC/PCC, and referred to full-MARC bibliographic records and authority records of LC and PCC participating libraries. This study aims to broaden the understanding of the new bibliographic structure and to prepare for the transition to the next-generation bibliographic structure such as BIBFRAME in the future.

Korean Decimal Classification (KDC) 6th edition currently adopts a synthetic number-built methods by using schedule and tables. But this methods faces with limitations in building various subjects because of due to the mono-dimensional structure with the bias of note types, insufficient analytical-synthetic notes, and lack of notes that using tables. This research practically analyzed the structural limitations of the notes in KDC 6th edition and proposed a multi-dimensional structure to improve the number-building methods. The note types were analyzed using 4 main classes in schedule, and the problems of the current mono-dimensional note structure were identified. Based on the analysis results, the components of notes of the KDC were identified, and a multi-dimensional and hierarchical note structure was proposed. Through this structure, it is expected that KDC can establish a foundation for effectively responding to the evolving knowledge system.

This study aims to analyze the regulations and actual operation status related to IR operations for eight institutions participating in the OAK project to examine the need to establish an IR operation policy and the components of an operation policy. The results showed that IR management policies need to include collection and disclosure of research results, copyright management, whether to support APC, and management plans for each type of research result. In particular, clear regulations on the collection and disclosure of research outputs are essential to ensure consistency and efficiency in IR operations. In addition, it is necessary to create an institutional foundation for researchers to share research outputs through OA publication by converting the publication fee support policy of many institutions to a support policy for OA publication. In addition, there are differences in IR management methods depending on the characteristics of each institution, and it is necessary to establish customized IR management policies that fit the characteristics of each institution. In this regard, OAK should provide standardized guidelines and technical support to facilitate the development of IR management policies for each institution. This study can be used as a basis for establishing IR management policies for domestic organizations.
