This study aims to examine the view of women described in “The Young Man,” the journal published by YMCA, and analyzed improved women’s status, career choices and social advancement, marriage and family, and sexuality education for children and adolescents. It should be noted that several compelling articles were written and spread during the period “The Young Man” when even women’s basic rights could not be secured. The first issue repeatedly put forward in the journal was an improvement in women’s status, which included the advancement of women in industrial and commercial sectors and their financial in dependence, elimination of the idea of men’s superiority over women, promotion of women’s education, frugal living and clothing of female teachers. The second issue the journal often dealt with was related to women’s career choice and social advancement, which comprehensively covered gender equality, improvement in women’s rights, instilling a sense of mission in women, ministry opportunities for women, diverse career choices and social advancement, elimination of the distorted Confucian culture and system. The third issue frequently brought up in “The Young Man” was relevant to marriage and family, which found expression in addressing difficult problems such as family instability, abandonment, conflict, divorces, preparation for marriage as a sacred covenant, realization of an ideal family, and appropriate age for marriage. The fourth issue coped with sexuality education for children and adolescents, which focused on a balanced gender ratio, sexuality education for children by parents, teachers, and school doctors, sexuality education for parents and teachers, and the adoption of sexuality education curriculum in schools.
