The purpose of this study was to develop and validate a job-esteem scale that reflects the unique characteristics of academic librarians. The study conducted an analysis of relevant literature and existing scales in the scale development phase, followed by in-depth interviews with 10 academic librarians, resulting in the creation of 100 preliminary measurement items. These items underwent content validity testing, consultations with linguists, and face validity assessments, which culminated in the selection of 52 items for a preliminary measurement scale. A pilot survey was then administered with 300 academic librarians from four-year universities nationwide to collect data, and item analysis and reliability testing were performed with the data. Then, an exploratory factor analysis was conducted, resulting in the elimination of 22 items and the finalization of 30 items. The main survey was conducted with 345 academic librarians, and the study confirmed high reliability of the data through item analysis and internal consistency tests. Through another confirmatory factor analysis, the study finalized 29 items. The final scale met all criteria for convergent, discriminant, and criterion validity. This study marks the first development of a job-esteem scale tailored to the distinct attributes of academic librarians, and its significance lies in its utility for assessing and analyzing the job esteem of academic librarians.

The purpose of this study is to develop educational strategies and models by applying future-oriented elements of libraries, which are transitioning into integrated spaces through collaboration with archives and museums, into school library education. This study focuses on the changes where libraries expand their spaces and roles in response to the trends of a pluralistic society. The term ‘Larchiveum’ was established to represent a knowledge and culture complex space. The concepts and functions of this term were identified, and the characteristics of materials collected and managed by archives, museums, and art galleries, as well as domestic and international educational information services, were analyzed to explore ways to integrate them into school library education. Based on the ASSURE instructional design model, which emphasizes the effective selection and use of teaching and learning media, this study developed Larchiveum strategies, including ‘Inquiry-based Information Utilization,’ ‘Curriculum Integration and Convergence,’ ‘Collaboration, Sharing, and Dissemination,’ and ‘Digital Archive,’ and structured the educational content accordingly. The procedures and steps were refined through the evaluation and feedback of field experts, leading to the development of a collaborative educational model that incorporates Larchiveum strategies, resources, and inquiry-based instruction.

This study developed a model to classify news articles into categories of topic, genre, and region using a Korean Pre-trained Language model. To achieve this, a new news article classification system was designed by referring to the classification systems of domestic media outlets. The topic and genre classification models were implemented as hierarchical classification models that link the main categories and subcategories, and their performance was compared with that of an integrated category model. The evaluation results showed that the hierarchical structure classification model had the advantage of providing more precise categorization in ambiguous or overlapping categories compared to the integrated category model. For regional classification of news articles, a model was built to classify into 18 categories, and for regional news articles, the regional characteristics were clearly reflected in the text, resulting in high performance. This study demonstrated the effectiveness of classifying news articles from multiple perspectives—topic, genre, and region—and emphasized the significance of suggesting the potential for a multi-dimensional news article classification service that meets user needs.
