With the popularity of mobile devices with GPS, such as smart phones, search engine provides local search services based on user's current location. Users use local search to search for nearby famous restaurants, attraction places, or social events. However, current search engines support only searches for places, but they can not search information provided by search services from local institutes. For example, you can search for local libraries through local search, but you can not use the search service provided by the libraries from search engines. In this paper, we introduce the concept of meta local search which allows search engines to search information from local institute’s information services. Furthermore we will also introduce the design of meta local search systems, and its prototype system. The meta local search system has client-server architecture, and the client should be able to detect user’s location using GPS. We can design the server in three types. The first one is that the search engine keeps and manages all the information from the local institutes. This approach has the advantage of providing stable search service without local servers’ failure. The second approach is that the search engines can access the local institute’s servers when needed. Then it can quickly reflect the dynamic changes of the local information. Third, the search engine provides only meta information to the client, and this approach minimizes the costs for modifying the current search engines. In the paper, our prototype system follows the second approach for implementing the server. The server has its own search engine and it is able to dynamically connect with an external local institute’s information system to retrieve information. In the future, meta local search can be extended to stores or agencies in local area in the future.

A Study on Embedded System for Multipath Breakage Detection

In the era of the 4th industrial revolution, Smart City is being developed along with the Internet, which is one of the core technologies. With the expansion of Smart City, there is a growing interest in the construction, management and maintenance of IT infrastructure facilities that make up Smart City. Smart City network infrastructure is an important solution to improve the high level of social and urban economic power where people and things are always connected. Therefore, the introduction of Smart City is rapidly increasing worldwide. In addition, maintenance and management systems for infrastructure facilities are being developed and applied. Among the various monitoring technologies, SmartSheet is applied to facilities buried underground and is used for protection and monitoring of facilities. The smart sheet is used for detecting and monitoring various breakdowns by judging the abnormality by communication between the sheets. We could measure the damage location by using the special pipe equipment and TDR equipment which was developed during the monitoring technology. However, there is a disadvantage that high cost and near measurement are impossible. In order to solve these drawbacks, a monitoring system using a low-cost embedded board has been developed, but there is a disadvantage in that a measurement error and a durability problem occur due to the SW error of the embedded board. In this paper, we propose a multipath monitoring system to solve the problem of system failure and measurement problem in the existing monitoring system using the low-impedance embedded board and the impedance characteristics between the time constant and the voltage. The proposed system monitors the problems of S/W and H/W by applying the features of the fault tolerant system and can easily perform maintenance in the event of a problem.

A New Bit-Serial/Digit-Parallel Multiplier in GF(2^m) UsingNormal Basis

The Arithmetic operations over GF(2^m) have been extensively used in public-key cryptography schemes and error correcting codes. Among the arithmetic operations over GF(2^m), the efficient implementation of field multiplication is of upmost importance, as field operations of greater complexity (e.g., exponentiation and division) can be performed by the consecutive use of field multiplication. Choosing the basis by which field elements are represented plays an important role in the efficient implementation of finite field multiplications. There are three popular and applicable basis, namely, polynomial basis (PB), normal basis (NB), and dual basis. Hardware implementations of finite field multiplier using normal basis are advantageous due to the fact that the squaring operation can be performed by only one-bit cyclic shift at almost no cost. In this paper, a new bit-serial/digit-parallel multiplier using normal basis of GF(2^m) is presented. The main idea of the proposed multiplier is to use this feature of normal basis. In the proposed multiplier, the bits of an operand are grouped into several digits with bits and each digit is implemented simultaneously by bit-serial multiplier. Therefore, the proposed multiplier takes clock cycles, , to finish one multiplication operation in GF(2^m). The value of can be selected by designer to set the trade off between area and speed according to the application. The proposed multiplier has lower area complexity than bit-parallel multiplier and is faster than bit-serial ones. In addition, the proposed multiplier has higher regular architecture compared to other similar proposals and therefore, well-suited for VLSI implementation and can be easily applied as a basic component for computing complex operations over finite field, such as exponentiation and division operation.
